2010 Concert #42 – August 26: Brandon Flowers at Highline

This one was amazing! Brandon is definitely one of the best modern rock front men. Something about his awkward ways that you can’t help but love. Going to the show and not knowing any songs actually worked out in this case – the surprise of it all was fantastic. Way more upbeat than I was anticipating. The unfortunately named “Swallow It” will probably be my new favorite song. I cannot wait for the album to come out in a few weeks!

What a weird an wonderful show – got $5 tickets to the first night of previews to the new Edward Albee show – Confusing and weird with some odd nudity but overall very good!

Success! Waited in line on a super rainy day to get tickets – thrilled to now have great seats for the first night of previews – and at the simple cost of an Andres Jackson. See it – its fantastic and Ben Walker isn’t bad to look at =)
August 20 – Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy

Totally fun birthday outing! Went to see Cirque Dreams on my birthday – very fun! I worked on a show while i was in school and this made me think of those great times! Still blows me my mind that someone can learn to stand point on someones head! Seriously….how do you know you can do that?!?! And seriously – she totally sang “Only In My Dreams” at the end…blast from the 80s! AWESOME!
Side Note: We saw Debbie in the elevator before the show – I gave her a dirty look because her makeup annoyed me. I later realized it was 1. Debbie Gibson and 2. She was in show makeup. Oops.
2010 Concert #41 – August 14: GREEN DAY! at PNC

Best concert I have ever been to – EVER! Bought tickets in the 200s and was fine with it until i got there and was upgraded to front row center by an awesome friend who “doesn’t like to be that close.” WHAT!?! So it happened – Billie said who wants to come on stage so i dove over the barricade and went for it. Best night ever!!!! I’ll miss them going off tour for a bit but can’t wait for more much!

August 12 – Broadway In Bryant Park (AMERICAN IDIOT!)

Rain and all this was still the best BBP yet! I think the crowd was the biggest of the entire summer – how could it not be! Everyone wants to rock out to GD tunes. Check out the show – you’ll love it!

2010 Concert #38 – August 3: Freestyle Love Supreme – Gramercy

Counting this as a show rather than Broadway even though it was a little bit in the middle. Lin-Manuel Miranda was hysterical as were all the rest of the guys! It was a freestyle comedy thing – they take words and stories from the crowd and run with it. The group even managed to get uproarious in there! Crying laughing for 2 hours – fantastic!
August 5 – Broadway In Bryant Park (MDQ / Freestyle Love Supreme / Ave Q )

Best BBP so far! Million Dollar Quartet is a great show – and they killed it on stage! Freestyle Love Supreme came out – I had no idea who they were so I wasn’t expecting much but damn was it funny….funny enough that I decided to go to the show later that night! And who doesn’t love Ave Q – after all we’re all just a little racist =)
